Biography

Joanna Fleming is a first-year student at the University of Denver studying Classical Voice Performance.

 

Joanna has received the Voice for Life Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, the highest achievements in the Voice for Life program. She received gold medals at the Indiana State School Musician Association (ISSMA) Competition for both solo and ensemble performances in 2012, 2013, and 2014.

 

Joanna has sung with the First Presbyterian Church choir in Evansville Indiana, the Evansville Chamber Singers, the Signature High School Singers, and the Sig Quartet. During her time with the First Presbyterian Church choir, she was a featured soloist and performed Handel’s Messiah, John Rutter’s Requiem, and works from Bach’s St. John’s Passion.

 

Joanna has performed multiple solo works, including works by Mozart, Handel, Haydn, Bach, Beethoven, Britten, Faure, and Gilbert & Sullivan.

 

Joanna participated in the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) program for ten years. She attended RSCM summer courses in Charlotte, NC and Wilkes-Barre, PA. She has attended master classes with David Briggs, William Towers, Philip Scriven, Jack Burnam, John Schwandt, Mark Moliterno, and Richard Tanner. She worked for a number of years with organist and director Robert Nicholls.

 

Joanna’s family is one of the most important things to her. Her parents provided her many musical opportunities when she was young, and her triplet sisters are very close to her.
